The Black Alliance for Educational Options began in 2002 in Milwaukee as a nonprofit group with the mission of supporting school voucher and charter school programs throughout the United States. Where the options for Black children were not up to par, BAEO stepped in to provide additional funding.
Unfortunately, our relationship with the BAEO was forced to come to a close at the end of 2017. The BAEO shut down at the end of that year and has not been running since. We would love to have their resources still, but there are just none to be found anymore.
We are not on the board there and do not control what they are up to, but we think that it is pretty safe to say that they are not going to make a comeback in the near future. We are sorry for any inconveniences that this may cause and wish the best for the employees of the now defunct BAEO.
Although we are no longer receiving any funding from the BAEO, we have other strategic partnerships and ways of fundraising that will help with our schools in Dayton. There are many places still running, so we really do not need to worry about one place shutting down.
You are probably right that this is something we can move on from, but many parents have asked us about our affiliation and the ongoing relationship, so we just wanted to use this page as an opportunity to clear the air. Thanks for reading.
